How do I find books in Curry Library?

Curry Library has an online catalog. This catalog can be accessed by going to the Curry Library Home Page and selecting WILO/Curry Library On-Line Catalog. On the initial page you can search for books or journals by:
  • Keyword- If you know significant words that describe the material. For example a word or words in the title; a word in the title and the author's last name; or word in title and a subject word.
  • Title- Type in the title leaving off leading articles such as "a","an","the".
  • Author- Type in the author's last name or last, first name or an organization's name.
  • Journal or Magazine Title - Type in the title leaving of leading articles such as "a", "an", "the".
  • Subject (Library of Congress Subject Headings)- If you know the subject and want to know what the library has type it in. If you type in something not in the "official" list, the catalog will give you a list to choose from.
  • Subject (Children's)- This is used to search for children's literature.
  • Numbers - Books and magazines have special identification numbers called ISBN (Books) and ISSN (Journals). Each book in Curry Library has a unique number called a Dewey Call Number. If you know any of these numbers, you can type it in and if it is in the catalog it will display.

We don't have the book I want. Now What??

You are in luck!! William Jewell is in a statewide consortium of academic libraries called MOBIUS. If you can't find the book you want in our library you simply click on the MOBIUS link next to the search box and your search will be performed on the combined holdings of 50+ libraries in the state of Missouri and the results displayed on the next screen. If you find a book you would like to borrow, click on it and the catalog record will be displayed. From this screen you can choose to see where the book is and if it is available to borrow. At this point you have two options:

1. You may take your William Jewell ID to any MOBIUS library and check out the materials.

OR

2. You may borrow the book from another MOBIUS library by following these steps:
  • Click on the "Request This Item" link
  • Choose the cluster. William Jewell is affiliated with WILO. Submit.
  • Type your name in the box.
  • Type in your unique ID. Your unique ID is your Social Security Number followed by wj, no spaces. Example: 123456789wj
  • Choose where you want to pick up your book when it arrives.
    • Generally you will choose to have the book sent to "WM Jewell Main Library Circ" but if you want to pick it up somewhere else choose it, but you must check it out from the pickup location you choose.
  • The book will be sent via courier in a couple days to Curry Library and you will be notified by email to come and pick it up.

MOBIUS doesn't have the book I want either : (

You still can get materials that are not in Curry or in MOBIUS but it will take a little longer. If you go to the Curry Library Home Page you will find a link to "Forms" in the box on the left hand of the page. The first form listed there is ILL Book Form. Fill out this form, click "Submit" and it goes directly to the Curry Library Interlibrary Loan Department. If you have questions about the interlibrary loan process please call us at 415-7610 or ext. 5472.
